Creating a Living Doll

... Hey guys! Sorry I haven't blogged in so long, but lets pick up where we left off. We were discussing shapes. After reviewing my last post, I just want to back up a bit to the basics. With what, exactly, are we working from head to toe? If you could make yourself into a doll, you would chose the perfect everything- hair, clothes, accessories, etc... I believe we all can be Living Dolls with the right tools and knowledge.

FACE:

There are 7 different face shapes- Round, Heart, Oblong, Diamond, Oval, Pear, and Square. Which one are you? (Or, rather, which one do you think you are?) Lets identify...

Round: The most Universal of the face shapes.
This shape can pull off almost any hairstyle, because this face structure typically has the most balance. Let me give some visuals...

Audrina Patridge(above)has a round balanced face with symmetrical proportions, meaning her face can be divided equally by 5 vertical parts and 3 horizontal parts. Also, another way to identify balance is having one eye length between the two eyes. i.e.

Hair Styles-
Round-facers wear short hair styles very well. However, I don't suggest bob-style hair cuts that stop at the cheek. This gives the illusion of more face space and can make the person look heavier, which could be deceiving or non-flattering. A more flattering cut would be one that is not shorter than the nape of the neck.

Parting-
Parting the hair works well also with this face shape as we see above with Audrina. A part on the side or directly in the middle gives the illusion of length making the person appear taller and slims the face. This is also the only face shape that is recommended to wear a part down the middle. Because the middle part is so effective in dividing the face, it accentuates it's balance.

Earrings-
The Round Face has many options when choosing earrings. I recommend drop earrings like chandeliers and tear drops. Studs are basic and work in most cases. Although, I do not recommend large circular studs, circular clip-ons, or hoops. These types of earrings will create more face space and make the face look wider and heavier which may not be flattering.

Continuing with the 'shape' discussion, let's move on to body shapes. There are 5 different body shapes- Rectangular, Round, Pear, Hour Glass, and V-shape. All of these figures can be flattering with the right tools and knowledge. The most flattering of shapes, or rather the most desired figure, is clearly the hourglass- very statuesque and sexy. Have you ever noticed this figure on someone out of the blue? I mean, literally, one day their body just transform into this curvy, hipped, cinched-waist silhouette. I've seen it plenty on Grammy night, movies, videos, and even with people in my day-to-day life. How do they achieve this overnight formation? Easy! Its all an illusion. Its all about proportion and balancing.

Perfect Example Audrina has a rectangular figure.
She is straight on both sides and no prominent waist line. Now let's discuss color as well. Audrina's undertones are a beautiful golden whether she is tanned or not, those yellowish gold undertones are present. When choosing colors for our clothing, especially those closest to our faces, we want to make sure the color is picking up and complementing our undertones. The blue Audrina is wearing would definitely be more complimenting without the neutral gray or with a warmer blue. Although the tone of the blue is medium/warm, this is not the best color choice. A great color palette for Audrina would be warm pinks, blues, yellows, and greens. Identify your palette by first knowing your undertone. Determine if you are cool or warm by looking into your pigmentation. Determine if your undertones are more gold/yellow or silver/white. Then, choose colors that compliment. The best tool is a color wheel, if you need help. The picture below shows how each tool described above has been applied and how affective they can be. A simple change in dress shape gives her the illusion of having a perfect hourglass figure effortlessly. Balancing her top portion with the bottom by cinching her waste creating curves. Face shape, proper hair, accessories, color tones...
